Barry And The Fountains is an eclectic Alternative Soul act with Deep Soul roots, a distinct literary voice, and a haunting, subtle edge. Brought together in 2017 by Barry Jean Fontenot, a Louisiana-born singer-songwriter and community organizer, the group quickly became a fixture of the Chicago DIY scene, and developed a reputation for their raw, soulful sound, calling to mind such artists as Charles Bradley and Otis Redding, as well as the calm boldness of their lyrical style. From R&B adaptations of Romantic poems to Rock Operas about Sumerian legends, Barry And The Fountains don’t mess around when it comes to synthesizing their diverse influences into a style all their own.

“we write em’ like Jazz songs, play em’ like Rock songs, and sing em’ like Soul songs.”
